The situation on the front in Ukraine is becoming increasingly alarming – Kharkiv, a city of over a million people and a developed cultural center, is subjected to daily bombings. The infrastructure around it is destroyed, and the prospect of it being taken by the Russian army this summer is higher than ever. In Moscow, there are discussions that it would be ideal to capture the city in August or September, to deliver a significant blow to the Biden administration as close to the elections as possible.
In this situation, I recalled my interview with Timothy Snyder, recorded almost two years ago. At that time, our expectations for how this war would unfold were entirely different. However, everything we discussed – Russian schizofascism and the necessity of overcoming it – remains as relevant as ever.
